This Face by Anita Issaluk from Rankin Inlet is a prime example of the strong lines in Anita’s carvings, always creating  an imposing, eye catching presence.

Like most of Anita’s work the lines and beautiful soft green stone are just demanding one’s attention. Her pieces carry a weight, not just in a literally sense, but also metaphorically speaking. The artist  has created a wonderful play in this carving by exploring the dynamics between the muted colours of the stone and the imposing strength of the size and angular lines of the face itself. It’s a kind of carving that may cause one to get lost in contemplation.

This Face by Anita Issaluk will be a wonderful focal point in one’s home.
