Pitseolak is the son of Cape Dorset sculptor Omalluk Oshutsiaq. His adopted grandparents are artists Etidlooie and Kingmeata Etidlooie. His adopted uncles, Etulu Etidlui, Eeyoukak Nakoolak, Pukaluk Etungat, and Kellypalik Etidlooie are sculptors in Cape Dorset.
