Description
A stunning carving by Cape Dorset artist Peter Parr. This piece, of a walrus feeding her calf is an unusual composition. Rarely do we see a carving that includes a feeding calf. This is a beautiful piece of art, with gorgeous lines from many angles. The main body of the carving is done in serpentine, with accents of antler in the tusks. A fantastic piece of Inuit art.

Peter began carving when he was seventeen. He enjoys carving animals such as walruses and polar bears.
Peter’s wife, Alasuak, is a carver as well. His father, Nuna Parr, is also a carver. Peter’s grandparents, the late Parr and Elleshushe, were both famous graphic artists in Cape Dorset.
