Description

For this Kudliq by Tapaungai Qatsiya from Kinngait, the artist has selected a more exotic serpentine alongside the traditional Kinngait Serpentine. A pleasing overall effect with the light ice-blue coloured kudliq calling up images of the arctic waters.

Tapaungai Qatsiya (B. 1986) is an Inuit artist from Iqaluit, Nunavut. He learned to carve at the age of 10, by watching his father and grandfather at work. He currently resides in Kinngait (Cape Dorset).
He is known for his small and creative carvings, which depict a variety of traditional and contemporary subjects. His works are quite elaborate and often include several different stones and materials, all intricately carved.
