Description

This Pit Bull by Ikkidluaq Teevee from Kinngait – Cape Dorset  is a great carving of a dog. The selection of stone is just perfect with the blue-ish marbling creating a great impression of a brindle Pit Bull.

Ikkidluaq Teevee was born in 1984. His mother, Ningiukulu Teevee, is one of the most prolific of the recent artists contributing to the Cape Dorset print collections. Though he sometimes sits by his mother as she draws, he does not draw himself. Ikkidluaq started carving at the age of 14, learning from Napachie Ashoona, the adopted son of his great-uncle Kiuwak Ashoona.

Ikkidluaq enjoys making carvings that are out-of-the-ordinary or unusual, and particularly enjoys making conceptual work.

While he does depict traditional subjects such as bears, Ikkidulaq prefers creating unique and contemporary subjects. He has carved several dogs and often portraying them as they are in life, as playful companions. He has done pieces to commemorate northern dog slaughter. Teevee’s work has been sold at galleries both nationally and internationally

This Pit Bull by Ikkidluaq Teevee reflects all the magnificent details of this dog, like his large muzzle and his intense eyes. A great carving for Pit Bull lovers.
