This Seal by Kopak Kopak (Rosalie ?) from Repulse Bay — Igloolik is a nice oldie. It is obvious from the nicks and dents that this seal has seen a lot in his/her life. This seal, which has come to us through the secondary market, carries its signs of wear as a batch of honour. Overall the seal has a lovely presence, a nice patina and evokes reflections on life in the arctic: a nice seal. Rosalie Kopak was born in Repulse Bay and grew up in Igloolik. She learned sewing from her mother, and carving from her father. In 1960 she began carving. Her husband Felix Kopak is also a sculptor.
