Mary was born on June 24, 1956 nearby Kinngait in a camp called Ittiliajuk which about 20 miles south east of Kinngait. Mary’s parents were Eli & Eva Parr. Mary is a descendant of a very famous, and one of the first artists in Kinngait who is “PARR”.
Mary started drawing back when she was young girl, but only started taking seriously in 2017. That’s when she started to sell her artwork to West Baffin Eskimo Co-op. Mary likes to draw Animals and birds and people in camp and old items and tools that were used back in 1900’s. She likes to draw what she remembers from the past and from dreams.
Mary has one biological daughter; she adopted one of her grandchild. She now has 11 grandchildren and two great grand children.
