Description
This Walking Bear by Sapa Ashoona from Cape Dorset is carved from a truly wonderful stone. Not only is the little bear eye-catching, but the stone is intriguing: a kaleidoscope of dark and gold serpentine with reddish veins running through. This Walking Bear by Sapa Ashoona is a great example of the emerging talents from this newer carver from Cape Dorset/Kinngait. Sapa developed his carving skills under the tutelage of Kaka Ashoona.
Sapa is establishing himself as an accomplished carver of Polar Bears. Sapa’s bears will be at home in any Inuit Art collection. This bear has come to us through a private collection and was purchased directly from the carver in 2006
