This is a wonderful carving of a Man from Baker Lake by Unknown artist. This 5 inch tall carving in grey- white stone is a strong example of the art from the Baker Lake community: minimal lines, yet strong in expression. Simple in shape, yet evocative in emotion. This may be a small carving, and there may be no artist identified with it, but it is nevertheless a great treasure. This carving of a Man from Baker Lake by Unknown, has come to us through the secondary market and was part of a private collection assembled by the previous owner while stationed in Baker Lake.
